NHS examinations are provided free of charge if you are over 60, under 16, a student in full time education up to 19 years old, have glaucoma or diabetes, have a family history of glaucoma (over 40), claim pension credit (guarantee), income support, universal credit, NHS tax credits, or have a ESA, HC2 or HC3 certificate.
You may also be entitled to an NHS Optical voucher towards the cost of your glasses, please enquire. Certain glasses are free of charge, or simply upgrade to any other frame!
*Community eye care service is a free service for all residents for minor eye conditions i.e. sore, red, watery, dry or contain flashes or floaters
Eye Examinations
A comprehensive eye examination involves much more than just determining your prescription. It also checks your eyes for common eye diseases, assesses how your eyes work together and can be an indicator of your overall health.
At Lakeland Optical we have the latest Nidek digital phoropter technology – gone are the opticians’ glasses and box of lenses! Other equipment includes, Topcon OCT 3D scan(additional charge £20), Zeiss Humphrey field screener, Topcon retinal photography, and other tests appropriate to your individual needs. Every test will be thoroughly explained, and a detailed description of any ocular pathology detected. Take home literature is available for common ocular conditions and time is taken for any queries.
Lisa Sariwee is a fully qualified optometrist, graduating in 1999. She is registered with the General Optical Council, The Association of Optometrists and is a member of The College of Optometrists. She was also awarded "Optician of the Year" by the people of Blackpool after discovering a young patient had an extremely rare ocular tumour.

As we are independent, we offer a wide range of frames, stocking many different styles and designer brands. We are happy to order in alternative styles and colours to your requirements.
All frames include standard single vision lenses. Complete spectacles start from £59.
